Foxx Bodies Album Release Show feat. Suzie True and Lando Chill

Foxx Bodies often describe themselves as an accident. Bailey Moses, Adam Bucholz, and Matt Vanek came together in their shared home when their singer Bella Vanek asked everyone to play loud music she could scream over after she began unpacking her newly-recognized childhood abuse. While each of them had been practicing musicians from a young age, none had been in a band before Foxx Bodies.

The new album Vixen is, in so many ways, a story about coming to terms with yourself. It only made sense that the band would have to do just that while weathering a pandemic before finally releasing this album into the world. Foxx Bodies’ music has always been about the combat of survival, which singer Bella Vanek has never been shy about. She can be found just about anywhere sharing her own struggles with mental illness, eating disorders, sexual abuse, or... really whatever most people are afraid to say out loud.

On Vixen, Vanek makes her trauma sound dangerously intriguing, singing about her life in such a startling and honest way that it makes you examine your own ideas of mental illness, gender, and trauma. Marry that with Moses' salty, surfy licks, Bucholz’s elaborate fills, [Matt] Vanek’s infectious baselines, and it's all over. The four desert punks meld together to bring a magnetic, dramatic air to each song, delivering romping punk and the occasional piercing scream.

Suzie True is a cry baby pop punk band whose goal is to have you crying about your crush in the mosh pit. Describing themselves as “if The Powerpuff Girls started a Blink 182 cover band,” the LA based power pop trio takes inspiration from Britney Spears, Hole, and anything off any of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtracks. Suzie True released their debut EP "Nothing to You" in 2018 and released their first full length album "Saddest Girl at the Party" on Get Better Records in November 2020.

Experimental hip-hop artist & social activist Lando Chill is known for incorporating elements of funk, gospel, jazz, indie rock, psychedelic, and folk into his production work. A Chicago native, Lando (real name Lance Washington), first started rapping under the Star Wars-inspired moniker Lando Chillrissian, and later shortened it to Lando Chill. Bringing to mind groups like Spearhead and The Roots, his lyrics are highly introspective, reflecting on personal struggles and posing existential questions for his listeners, but even at his most cathartic he has maintained a positive, encouraging outlook. A warrior-poet by nature, Lando’s goal has always been to bring the issues of political freedom, mental health, and police brutality to the forefront of his work and to the national conversation. Aimed at giving a voice to marginalized communities throughout the U.S., he is perceived as a man with one ear to Mother Nature and one to the plight of humankind.

His most recent release, Black Ego, explores the nuances of the black experience, touching on themes of cultural appropriation, privilege, and intersectionality. Drawing from a vast expanse of influences, this third album is equal parts hip-hop, indie rock, funk, psychedelic, and gospel. An impressive and intoxicating follow-up to his 2017 release, Black Ego combines seemingly equal parts of west coast funk and desert trip-hop, ultimately threaded together by Lando's bold vision.
