Cherubs and Rid of Me with Prissy Whip at Resident

Formed in 1992, Cherubs emerged on the Austin, TX, LSD punk scene with a jackhammer of nightmarish, rhythm-driven song structures and plenty of Butthole Surfers whimsy and terror to keep things more than interesting. Fast forward 20 years later and the band has reformed with more energy and songwriting acumen than ever.

Rid of Me

Heavy, melodic noise punk from Philadelphia featuring members of Fight Amp & Low Dose. Loud and quiet, raw yet honed, Rid Of Me strikes a nerve for anyone wanting to hear melody, emotion and punishing groove filtered through walls of noise and dissonance.

Prissy Whip wields a shrill and utterly disorienting brand of noise rock, somewhere in the league of dynamic and confrontational acts such as Daughters, Throbbing Gristle, Butthole Surfers, and Melt-Banana. Vocalist Crow Jane (Egrets on Ergot) provokes the audience with alarming wails and a convulsing strut. Effects-drunk guitars and pummeling drums collide and careen happily off the rails. The band will even prank its audience with catchy moments that are equal parts infectious and deranged. Hailing from Los Angeles, Prissy Whip exudes a reckless energy rarely felt since the heyday of its punk scene.
