Cinco De Mayo

On Friday, it’s a pop punk party with a performance by the man of the hour, Matt Saltzman. All proceeds go to the Los Angeles A Cappella Academy. Catch a sneak peek with this Spotify playlist.

We’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo the right way this weekend with a full day of programming, beginning with Voyager Institute at 4 p.m. It’s a Vegan Dessert Summit, featuring Clara Polito of Clara Cakes fame as a panelist! Check out the recipe for her vegan s’mores bars—guilt-free. DJ Clifton will be spinning ‘60s and ‘70s soul, funk and other rare grooves in the garden beginning at 5 p.m. Later, August Eve and Sister Mantos arrive for the real festivities.

We’ve got tequila specials, including tamarind & casa margaritas and oaxacan razorblades, plus your hipster snack pack: modelo and a shot of Altos. Wait, did someone mention a tiki bar pop-up? A Trump piñata? Help make my dreams come true.

Meanwhile, Bing & Ruth will be taking over the Pico Union Project on Saturday night as well. See? There’s something for everyone.

The punk rock prom queens of Peach Kelli Pop premiere their video for “Black Magic” on Monday evening. Check out the first track off their upcoming LP, Gentle Leader. Flower Moon Records takes over Tuesday with special guests for a compilation celebration.

Don’t miss Yonatan Gat with Prettiest Eyes and Criminal Hygiene (what a lineup!) on Wednesday, May 16. You can stream his new record exclusively on Tidal or show up to hear it live. You decide.

Coming up: RF Shannon with Jesse Woods and Alex Dupree on Monday, May 21. “Tooth Ache” premiered last month and the full-length record is on its way. We’re stoked to see Carla Dal Forno as well on Saturday, May 26 with Tess Roby and DJs from Italians Do It Better (including Nite Jewel!).
