Night Owls, Root Down, Music for the Masses: New Wave Nite, Black Metal Brunch w/ DJ Dan Dismal

It’s a little after sunset and you’re sipping a paloma. A light breeze rustles the trees. You take a big beautiful bite of your burger and your eyes suddenly become misty. Is this heaven…or is this Resident?

If you’ve lived it then you know the dream is alive ‘n’ well and honestly, there’s nobody we’d rather close out summer with than you! Drop by this Friday for a massive New Wave party known as Music for the Masses. We’re always down to engage in a good, friendly debate about the definitive ranking of most beloved New Wave tracks mid-shimmy on the dancefloor, so here’s fifty suggestions to get the party started. Lovers of The Smiths, Talking Heads, and New Order, should come ready to cut a rug.

Per usual, we like to give our visitors a little taste of every genre and this weekend captures that spirit pretty dang well! Saturday afternoon join us for a very special Black Metal Brunch with DJ Dan Dismal featuring booze, brunch, and yes, Black Metal. Then that evening moonwalk on over to Prince vs MJ night for some serious flashback dance party energy. Costumes and fandom encouraged as we recognize these two legends that continue to make us shake our groove thangs from the other side.

We’ll wrap up the weekend with one more dose of brunching at Brunch Line Assembly on Sunday. Come celebrate the 20th anniversary of world renowned industrial dance club, Das Bunker. Not guaranteed to cure your hangover, but definitely bound to be a good time.

As we move into the work week, allow us to lessen the usual bore with two mid-week treats! Tuesday we’ve got your favorite electronic music night SAMPLEnHOLD followed by Merge Records’ Sneaks on Wednesday 8/15. We’ve had Sneaks on repeat all summer long and continually try to emulate her coolness with little success. If you’re searching for a new artist to get into, look no further than our stage Wednesday night.

Summer may be starting to wind down, but we’re excited to announce one more surprise for the month of August. We can’t wait to host Alexandra Tweten, author of Bye Felipe, for a book release party on 8/21! Get to know the “Feminist-Tinder-Creep-Busting Web Vigilante” and her book which chronicles the perils of online-dating creeps and coaches readers to stand up. Proceeds from this event will benefit beloved charity, Hollaback!

For those looking to fill up their fall calendars we just announced Creature Canyon on 10/18 presented by our pals at KROQ Locals Only. Don’t forget tickets are also on sale for our November visit from Mutual Benefit on 11/13! They just released two new tracks about change and our political climate off their upcoming record. Reflective and weighted in our current struggles, we suspect you’ll dig these folk-pop tracks as much as we did. Listen, reflect, and repeat until their November show!

Well…That’s all she wrote. We hope you’re swell and visiting us soon. Summer would be a snooze without you.
