Summer and Day Parties

Punk shows, after parties, Selena and the Grateful Dead? Yeah, it must be summer. Let’s kick it off this Fridaywith another edition of the Prince and Michael Experience. Who said parties weren’t meant to last?

We’re ready for the long-awaited appearance of Institute, Chernobyl and Temple of Angels this Saturday. Texas is cool sometimes. On Sunday evening, get down to Caloncho and Salvador Y El Unicornio. Next week begins with a Burger Records special: Crystales, Lunch Lady and Miguel Mendez & the Lords of the Apocalypse. It’s a tape release celebration, so surf on down for some good ol’ psych stylings.

Next Thursday, May 17, we’re staying up late for the DIIV after party, featuring live sets by Colin Caufield and OmenXIII. Mixologi takes over all day on Saturday, May 19, beginning at 12:30 p.m. That’s right—set your alarms. Hank Wood and the Hammerheads take over at 8 p.m. Check out a stream of their self-titled album.

Mark your calendars: Grateful Brunch is back with the Red Grenadines—the Valley’s finest Dead cover band—on Sunday, July 8. Bounce back from Saturday’s Dodger Stadium gig real quick. Hang on the patio for a Shakedown.

Reminder: Dylan Carlson of Earth takes over on Tuesday, August 7 with local legend Mary Lattimore. It gets heavy. Look out for shows with the Altons (Friday, June 1), Pacific Range (Sunday, June 24) and Shaboozey (Wednesday, June 27). Wake up and smell the friendship! We’ll be here all season.
