It’s been three glorious months of warm summer nights in the Resident garden, but like all good things it must come to an end… Except for the fact that we live in a California paradise where the sun always shines, the events never stop flowing, and your social calendar is always blossoming regardless of season. So turn that frown upside down! It may be the last full weekend of August, but even when summer fades away, our fun never stops.

As your summertime fling comes to a close, allow us to take your mind off things! Tonight we have Thief bringing their self-described, “night music for haunted ballrooms and electric churches” to our stage. For all you looking to dance it out and bid summer farewell, Friday night is our gift to you. Come break it down on the dancefloor at Old School Hip-Hop Night as we revel in the best hip-hop and golden era rap tunes from ‘79-’99.

Saturday we continue in the vain of honoring music legends and getting our nostalgia on at the return of Selena Brunch! Join us as we sing, booze, and brunch at this Nance Arte production, with a special live performance from La Tigresa. Dress up like the Queen of Tejano music and arrive ready for photo-ops and Selena themed everything from 12-5 pm, totally free. If you’re looking for live music afterwards, we’re kicking off two shows that evening with Six Organs of Admittance up first, followed by Cyanotic.

In this spirit of a new season quickly approaching, it’s time to look ahead. You don’t want to be left without plans, do you? Next Thursday 8/30 Jeff Weiss does it again with special guest Blueface at his epic creation, Don’t Come to LA. It’s quickly become known as the city’s premiere rap and hip-hop party, curated to perfection with artists you know and love, plus emerging stars. If you’ve been sleeping on this the past few months, it’s time to wake up.

September is poised to be a great month and let it be known, we’ve got a lot of surprises up our sleeve! We just announced Anjelica on 9/9 and Bootie LA: Lady Gaga and Madonna vs. Everybody on 9/14. Gear up for a voguing competition and refresh your memory on Madonna’s greatest hits — you know you want to. Another key anchor of September is our Soft Kill Residency happening on 9/6, 9/13, 9/19, and 9/26. We promise this is one of those major FOMO moments that you would be remiss to miss. See you there.

And finally a treat for our friends glancing in despair at the end of the year. November is looking up thanks to our recent addition of Big Data on 11/6 as part of the SirusXM Alt Nation Tour with pals Castlecomer and Fitness. We start things right with Still Corners on the first of the month and there’s no time like the present to start listening to their brand new LP. It’s been a week and we’re still playing ‘Slow Air’ in full and on repeat. Give it a whirl and commit to the live show on 11/1. We can’t wait!

Needless to say summer fridays and week-long getaways may be coming to an end, but we’ll always be here as your little hideaway and secret garden oasis in this busy, chaotic city. Pop by for a drink and let’s cheers to a wonderful summer and an even better fall season. Thanks for making it so memorable.
